Mein DAAD

Service Area for Alumni Info

The DAAD provides a series of individual services for its alumni – which can be found in the so-called Service Area for Alumni.

Alumni who received an individual  scholarship directly from the DAAD can make use, among others, of the following services:

  • Order selected scientific literature
  • Subscribe to the alumni magazine ‘Letter’ and different newsletters
  • Create a personal alumni webmail address
  • Update your contact details – which enables you to remain in touch with the DAAD and be informed about services and events

These services are available to you free of charge!

How can you access the Service Area for Alumni?

The Service Area for Alumni is one of various offerings to be found in the service portal Mein DAAD. You need a central user account for DAAD online services, a so-called DAAD ID, to login to Mein DAAD.

There are two options for accessing the Service Area for Alumni depending on when and how you applied to the DAAD for your scholarship:

Option 1:

Your scholarship application to the DAAD was submitted digitally, that is via one of the DAAD online portals (Note: For most funding programmes, this has been the case for around the last ten years).

In this case, you should already have registered with an e-mail address and a login password during the application and for subsequent administration of your funding. These data now represent your DAAD ID and you can use them to login to Mein DAAD

Please access the login section of Mein DAAD and sign in there using your DAAD ID. After the login, you’ll have access to the Service Area for Alumni

Note: If you no longer remember your password, please use the ‘Forgot password?’ function and reset your password. Should you furthermore no longer remember which e-mail address you previously specified, please use the ‘Check DAAD ID’ function. Should you no longer have access to your e-mail address registered with the DAAD, please send an e-mail to alumni@daad.de.

Option 2:

Your scholarship application to the DAAD was submitted in an analogue format, i.e. by post (Note: This is generally the case if you received your scholarship in the more distant past.). In this event you probably don’t have a DAAD ID.

Please access the Mein DAAD login section and register there for a new DAAD ID using your current e-mail address. You can then access the Service Area for Alumni or use Mein DAAD to confirm your status as a DAAD alumna / alumnus (Are you a DAAD alumna / alumnus?)

Note: If, in the meantime, you have already registered for the Mein DAAD service portal, please do not create a new account, but use your previous account instead. You can use the ‘Check DAAD ID’ function to check whether a DAAD ID already exists for the specified e-mail address. If you no longer remember your password, please use the ‘Forgot password?’ function and reset your password. Should you require information about the DAAD ID, please use the ‘FAQ relating to a DAAD ID’ domain. Please feel free to contact alumni@daad.de if you have any other questions.

* The Service Area for Alumni was relaunched in 2024 and has been integrated into the overarching Mein DAAD service portal. Should you have already used the (former) Service Area in the past, you can unfortunately no longer use your old login data. Please use a DAAD ID in the future, which you either already possess or would have to set up (see the explanations above under ‘How can you access the Service Area for Alumni?’). Please also feel free to contact alumni@daad.de if you have any questions about this.

** Please note that the Service Area for Alumni is until further notice solely intended for people who previously received an individual scholarship directly from the DAAD. People who did not receive their scholarship directly from DAAD, but were rather funded at a higher education institution as part of DAAD project funding, can unfortunately not use this service. People who are currently receiving their first individual funding will obtain access to the Service Area for Alumni once only this funding has come to an end.
Our Help Centre provides further guidelines for logging into the Service Area for Alumni.
