The Christian-Albrecht-Haus is located in Kiel's villa district Düsternbrook, only 500 meters from the Kiel Fjord. Here you can enjoy all aspects of your everyday life - whether you are are studying, taking a break from learning, or meeting up with friends - by the water.
The building's history dates back to the year 1923. As the first residence hall for international students in the Federal Republic of Germany, it was inaugurated in 1951 by the then Federal President Prof. Theodor Heuss. According to its statute, 50% of the inhabitants shall be German and 50% foreign nationals. The cultural and spiritual exchange of the inhabitants is a key aim of this institution. Standard application procedure
Application requirements
Only students who are enrolled at a university in the state of Schleswig-Holstein can live in the dormitories of the Studentenwerk SH.
A certificate of enrolment is not required for an application. Student enrolment certificates can be uploaded later via the website.
International and students with disabilities are given priority.

15 January for summer semester, 15 July for winter semester
Later applications might be considered.

Erasmus students
The International Centre accepts applications from participants of the Erasmus exchange programme. You can find the application form here. Please fill it out and send it to the International Centre by e-mail, fax or by post.
The renting periods in the dormitories are currently at least six months. The renting contracts always have to be signed for these six months: for the winter semester (application deadline 15 June) from 1 September until 28 February of the following year; for the summer semester (application deadline 15 January) from 1 March until 31 August of the same year. In order to apply for a room please submit your application on schedule.
