• Standard application procedure

  Application requirements
  Every officially enrolled student of the
  - University of Duisburg-Essen
  - Folkwang University of Arts, or
  - Hochschule Ruhr-West is entitled to live in a student residence.
  
  As a student of another university you can still apply for a room in the student residences but you should expect that your application will be subordinated to applications of our students.

  Application deadline
  Applications will be considered in the order of their arrival. Please keep in mind that the Studierendenwerk does not have separate waiting lists for each student residence. The earlier you apply, the bigger are your chances to get a room in your student residence of choice.

  Application
  As soon as you receive your admission notice you can apply online. Having done this, you will receive an automatic e-mail confirmation and further information.
  
  As soon as a matching room is available, the Studierendenwerk will e-mail you a room offer and your personal authentication code. Proceed with the authentication by uploading your passport/ID in the online portal and accept the room offer by transferring a reservation fee. The fee will be booked as a deposit at the beginning of the rental period.
  
  After expiry of the given deadline, the offer is no longer available.

• Programme and exchange students

  A contingent of rooms is reserved each semester for exchange students. However, this does not guarantee you a room and it might not be possible for the Studierendenwerk to allocate your preferred room type or location.
  Further information about how and when to apply for student residences will be provided when admission letters are sent.

• Additional information

  The rents can be described as "all-round carefree packages". This means: They include heating, electricity, and internet access.
