Description The Düsseldorf School of Oncology (DSO) of the University Cancer Center (Center for integrated Oncology Düsseldorf) and the Medical Faculty
at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf allocates (from 01.01.2020) positions for

PhD-students (65% TV-L E13)
on the subject 'Identification of novel apoptosis signaling pathways for the elimination of therapy resistant tumors'

within the DSO Research Network Program 'Stress Signaling in Anticancer Therapy Resistance'. The project is coordinated by Prof. Sebastian Wesselborg at the Institute for Molecular Medicine I at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.

The research focus of Prof. Wesselborg is the signal transduction of apoptosis. The objective of the project is the identification and characterization of a novel apoptotic signaling pathway, which can be activated independently of the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway and the death receptor signaling pathway.

The doctoral students will be integrated within the structured doctoral program of the Düsseldorf School of Oncology (DSO; http://www.hhu.de/dso), which offers a four-semester lecture series on oncology, work-in-progress seminars and annual retreats.

We are mainly focussed on basic research but are also interested in therapeutic perspectives. A strong background in molecular and/or cell biology would be desirable but more important are dedication to science, motivation and teamwork. Applicants should have a master degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, etc..
