Programme Description
The merit-based programme gives outstanding international students the opportunity to study at Universität Hamburg. There are no restrictions on the subject area or type of degree. The award of merit scholarships should enable the students to concentrate fully on their studies and give them the opportunity to develop their skills.
Target Group
international students who have been enrolled in their course of study for a minimum of 2 semesters at Universität Hamburg and who do not qualify for assistance under the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG)
Students enrolled in 2-year Master's programmes can apply after completing just 1 semester.
Academic Requirements
international students who are enrolled at Universität Hamburg and show good to very good academic performance
Duration
2 semesters (12 months in total)
An application renewal after receiving the scholarship is possible. The maximum funding period in justified exceptional cases is 2 years.
Scholarship Value
usually a maximum of 992 EUR per month

Application Deadline
15 April and 15 October of each year
From 2026, the call for applications will only take place once a year on the application deadline of 15 April.

- other verifiable knowledge and skills (e.g. lectures, publications, awards, additional subject-related qualifications)
- no German citizenship
