Objective

Offered in cooperation with the Turkish education foundation Türk Egitim Vakfi, the scholarships give students the opportunity to improve their academic qualifications.

Who can apply?

Outstanding Turkish students from all disciplines with a Bachelor degree

What can be funded?

A Master's degree or part of a joint German-Turkish Master's degree programme at a state or state-recognised German university

Duration of the funding

1 to 2 years

Value

  • Monthly scholarship payment of 992 euros
  • Medical, accident and personal liability insurance
  • Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or another source of funding
The DAAD and TEV each cover half of the costs. The TEV's share must be paid back to the foundation.
Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive the following additional benefits:
  • Monthly rent subsidy
To prepare for the stay in Germany, the DAAD pays for a language course before the start of the study visit (minimum duration 2 months); the DAAD decides whether and for how long it will fund a language course depending on German language skills and project. Participation in a language course is compulsory if the study programme is taught in German.

Selection

An independent selection committee consisting of specialist scientists reviews applications.
The most important selection criteria are:

  • Academic achievements
  • Convincing academic and personal reasons for the planned study project in Germany
