Description/content

The contents of the practically-oriented "Master of Architectural Lighting Design" programme is based on two main areas, daylight planning and the planning of artificial light, with human well-being as its focal point. The goal is the conscious integration of lighting design in the creation of the architecture in which we live.

Course organisation

The first phase of the programme focuses on fundamental technical, physical and design principles. The second phase of the programme concentrates on practical work as preparation for later professional activities as well as enhancing the students' technical skills.
At the end of the programme, students are required to submit a Master's thesis, which they must research and complete within ten weeks.

Integrated internships

The third semester is called the "out of college" semester. That means that the contents of the course of study will be undertaken by the students together with a "practice partner". Programme advisers will assist students in finding an appropriate practice partner. Alternatively, students can study at a foreign university.

Bachelor's degree in architecture, electrical engineering, design or interior design

You can apply for our Master's degree programme in Architectural Lighting Design if you have a Bachelor’s degree or a German "Diplom" in architecture, interior design, design, or a related course of study with a GPA of at least 2.5 or better (according to German grading system).
