Programme Overview

This interdisciplinary, two-year MA programme is a unique, international study programme that prepares graduates for careers in business, administration, diplomacy, policy formulation and research.

Students learn about EU institutions, European integration, the transatlantic relationship, and comparative welfare states. They focus on the pressing issues Europe faces today such as security, immigration and economic disparity.

The full-time programme consists of four semesters, which are completed at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin‘s prestigious partner universities: University of Bath, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Sciences Po Grenoble and Università degli Studi di Siena.

Study in up to three countries

This network of renowned universities gives students the unique opportunity to complete the programme at a minimum of two and up to three different sites of their choice in Europe and the US.

All students spend the first semester at the University of Bath. They pursue a degree in Contemporary European Studies and experience the European Union from the perspectives of multiple countries, cultures and languages.

Euromasters is a truly European experience with regard to teaching, learning and living! Students in the Euromasters programme receive a joint Master’s degree from the University of Bath (MA in Contemporary European Studies) in the name of all the partner universities.

Course organisation

The programme is operated by the European American University Consortium (EAUC). This vast network of renowned universities gives students the unique opportunity to complete the programme at a minimum of two and up to three different universities in Europe. The first semester always takes place at the University of Bath.
Therefore, students do not simply pursue a European Studies degree, but experience Europe from the perspective of multiple countries, (academic) cultures and languages. Upon successful completion of all study requirements, students are awarded a joint degree (MA in Contemporary European Studies) by the University of Bath on behalf of the EAUC.

As one of eleven German universities, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin was chosen as a University of Excellence in June 2012. It was successful in all three funding lines in the third round of the Excellence Initiative of the German federal and state governments and was awarded for its future concept "Educating Enquiring Minds: Individuality – Openness – Guidance". In an international comparison, Humboldt-Universität ranks among the top ten German universities. Scientists at Humboldt-Universität research socially relevant topics and challenges of the future and communicate these with the public. Humboldt-Universität invests all of its energy into being a place of excellent research and teaching. Its aim is to promote young talent and to positively influence society and the economy outside of the university framework.
Every year, over 5,000 young people decide to embark on their studies at Humboldt-Universität in the heart of Berlin. There is hardly any other place where students can choose from the same variety of degree courses. Among these degree courses are several international Master's programmes featuring lectures and seminars held in English.
As a first-rate university, international exchange for both research and study programmes is a matter of course. Humboldt-Universität boasts academic partnerships with more than 400 Erasmus partners in Europe and with over 150 university partners worldwide. Additionally, researchers from Humboldt-Universität are welcomed at various international universities, where they conduct projects or field studies and teach as guest lecturers. Humboldt-Universität helps students prepare to study abroad, providing consultation to international students and academics regarding all questions relating to their stay in Berlin. Through the creation of international networks, Humboldt-Universität plays an active role in furthering intercultural research and teaching.
