The University of Cologne's MSc International Management and CEMS Master's programme is designed to provide you with excellent academic and practical training in international management with an international focus for your future career in an international business environment.
CEMS network
This network is a global alliance of 34 leading business schools across five continents, more than 74 multinational corporations, and eight social partners that together offer the CEMS Master’s in International Management (MIM). The University of Cologne’s Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences (the “WiSo Faculty”) is a founding member – and the only German member – of the CEMS alliance.
The CEMS MIM is a pre-experience postgraduate degree. It is open to top-class, internationally minded, multilingual students enrolled in the MSc in International Management programme at the WiSo Faculty.
It offers:
international course experience
intercultural study groups
a semester abroad at one of the top business schools in the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education
a consultancy project carried out in collaboration with multinational companies
soft skills seminars geared towards developing leadership skills
numerous opportunities to meet and network with representatives of renowned international companies
Course organisation
The CEMS year, including the CEMS core elements, takes place during the second year of the Cologne Master's degree and is equivalent to an academic year (CEMS semester one during the winter semester and CEMS semester two during the summer semester). One of these semesters is completed at the home school, and the other is completed at a CEMS school abroad.
The total workload for the CEMS elements within the MIM programme is 66 ECTS with a minimum requirement of 24 ECTS successfully completed in CEMS semester one and 24 ECTS in CEMS semester two. The CEMS programme also includes ongoing language training, skill and block seminars as well as a compulsory internship abroad.
For a detailed course list of the CEMS MIM programme, please refer to our website.
CEMS courses
Within the CEMS requirements of the programme, students have to fulfil compulsory courses such as "International Strategy" in the winter semester and "Global Management Practice" in the summer semester.
While CEMS core courses are designed solely for the cohort of CEMS students (both international and Cologne students), electives provide access to specialised courses from various disciplines covered by the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences. Courses may be taken from the fields of corporate development, finance, supply chain management, marketing, accounting/taxation, economics, or social sciences.
