Logistics is an inevitable part of modern life and one of the most promising sunrise industries. If you think that logistics is just about delivering goods, then think again. Logistics professionals of tomorrow are able to identify current trends, develop clever ideas, find innovative solutions and use the latest technology in order to realise their visions in an economical, time-saving, and eco-friendly way. They can think outside the box and are adept at cooperating with experts from different disciplines on a global scale.
We aim to provide you with a skill set that is essential for future business and success, including the knowledge needed to design and optimise production processes, international supply chains, and traffic flows. We will also introduce you to the field of modern household innovations such as the development and implementation of cutting-edge assistance systems which help to maintain personal mobility in old age.
You will not only gain specialist knowledge of the latest logistic innovations and problem solving methods but also develop a sound understanding of strategic logistic planning processes. Additionally, you will learn to design innovative private mobility concepts and to equip them with the technical systems they require. Together with the technical English language skills you will gain over the course of your studies, this programme provides excellent preparation for you to embark on an international career.
Work-related learning is a crucial part of our programme and you will find many opportunities to put your knowledge into practice, such as work placements, model factories and simulations.
Our interdisciplinary approach also gives you the chance to work collaboratively with students from other disciplines like International Business or Environment and Energy in developing your own research project that demonstrates your individual strengths and helps you stand out from the crowd.
Career Prospects
As a graduate you will be a highly qualified expert in the management of logistics and will also have the knowledge and skills to respond to new challenges in the field of public and private mobility. You can expect to work in business areas like planning, implementation, or economic operation and optimisation of current or future logistic processes and mobility concepts.
Our graduates are highly sought after for senior positions in mobility and logistics. They gain employment as planners, consultants, innovators, or optimisers and are often responsible for distribution, purchasing, or process and product development.
Your first semesters will introduce you to logistic systems as well as to planning and applied problem solving methods. You will acquire a firm grounding in business administration and specialist knowledge in technical fields such as information technology and electrical engineering, learning for example about identification systems and automation. This knowledge is the key to dealing with the latest technologies used in mobility and logistics and to being successful on a global scale.
The fourth and fifth semesters will then give you the chance to broaden your professional horizon by studying electives in the fields of logistics, engineering or economics according to your interests and career aspirations. You will also have the opportunity to work independently on a research or development project.
The sixth semester focuses on the practical application of your knowledge and will give you the chance to either do an internship or study abroad. This will be another valuable experience and a great boost to your CV.
In the seventh semester, you will complete your Bachelor's thesis, which you will then present and defend in an open discussion with professors.
Funding for semesters abroad in France, Denmark and the Netherlands (DAAD)
An eight-week internship has to be completed before enrolling for the fourth semester. It is possible for you to do this internship in your home country before applying to Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences. Appropriate vocational education or work experience can be considered.
In the sixth semester, students have to either study abroad or do an internship (in Germany or abroad). We provide support in selecting partner universities and institutions as well as in raising funds.
Enrolment fees amount to approximately 295 EUR per semester. This covers nominal administrative fees and a public transport ticket valid for the entire federal republic of Germany.

The university offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships ("Deutschlandstipendium") to both current students and students who are soon to be enrolled with excellent marks. This scholarship consists of a monthly stipend of 300 EUR and applies to international students as well. Non-EU students can work up to 120 full days or 240 half days per year without requiring an additional visa. Student jobs within the university can be solely in English, but the vast majority of off-campus jobs will require at least basic proficiency in German. German courses are available for students through our International Center.
First-year students are strongly advised to focus primarily on their studies and to begin learning German. This will open up many more part-time job opportunities in later semesters.
Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences strongly urges you to arrange your accommodation before arrival. One option is accommodation at the residence halls run by student services ("Studierendenwerk Düsseldorf") with one-, two- or three-room flats and rent starting around 260 EUR per month (with a security deposit equivalent to three months' rent). Availability is limited, so register online as soon as possible. See our website for details.
Most students live in private flats shared with other students. There are a number of popular online portals for finding a flat in Germany. Contact the Welcome Centre for more information or look into social media platforms because some students might be graduating when you plan to start. Additionally, the Welcome Centre is always ready to offer advice or help with conversations or correspondence in German.

Kleve, where our main Campus is located, is a city rich in tradition and history, and it has approximately 50,000 residents. It offers the best of both worlds: the bustle and excitement of nearby cities like Nijmegen, Düsseldorf, and Cologne with the safety, comfort, and ambience of a smaller town. The flat landscapes, mild climate, and good infrastructure of the Lower Rhine make it ideal for getting around by bicycle. Noteworthy sights include the Swan Castle, Baroque-style botanical gardens, museums, and art galleries. The town is home to large department stores and smaller boutiques, pubs, cafés, and more. Kamp-Lintfort, our campus for the Faculty of Communication and Environment, has a current population of around 39,000 and is located 60 km (37 miles) south of Kleve. Kamp-Lintfort takes its name from a nearly 900-year-old monastery, maintained in its original style to this day. The city's proximity to the Rhine-Ruhr metropolis made it an integral part of post-WWII coal production in Germany. In recent years, Kamp-Lintfort has redefined itself as a hub of technology, innovation, and higher education. The Kamp-Lintfort campus is centrally and conveniently located in the centre of town.
