The MA in Global Supply Chain and Operations Management (G-SCOM) is designed for graduates from Germany and abroad who have completed a career-oriented first degree (usually a Bachelor's or "Diplom") and would like to study a post-graduate programme in an international group of students.
Excellence in supply chain and operations management becomes one the most important success factors for companies. This requires a new kind of leader to manage complexity, risks, and diversity in global supply chains and operations. The MA in Global Supply Chain and Operations Management programme prepares you to be one of those leaders. Three pillars build the programme framework: practical orientation and creation of working knowledge, research focus in the final stage of the programme with a research seminar and Master's thesis, and personal developments of students with the advancing of their communication, interaction, and organisational skills.
Some of the advantages of studying global supply chain and operations management at HWR are as follows: practice-oriented learning, interactive learning experience, international environment, combination of lectures, case-studies, business simulation with the use of commercial software, and vital exchange with the world of supply chain management and operations by means of guest lectures, company visits, and research projects in manufacturing and services.
HWR means learning in an international and multi-cultural atmosphere. Our students and professors come from all over the world; all our courses are held in English. The programme curriculum addresses the issues supply chain and operations managers are facing today and in the near future.
Courses are predominantly structured as interactive seminars and taught in English. The small group size facilitates direct dialogue and close contact between the students and the academic staff, enabling intensive work on case studies as well as fruitful and wide-ranging discussions.

The Master's programme is basically divided into three parts:
First semester:

Third semester:
During the first semester, students extend their knowledge in particular areas and start their specialisation.
The second semester modules build on the first semester to provide additional specialised skills required for the challenges in the G-SCOM career sector.
The third semester is scheduled for completing the degree by submitting the Master's thesis and defending it in an oral exam. During the third semester, a research methodology seminar is provided to support the work on the thesis. For students who do an internship in their third semester, the Master's thesis is postponed to the fourth semester.

Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
Excellent English skills equivalent a higher B2 level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
The required minimum score of some of the most known English certificates are listed below. We accept certificates of up to five years old. If you have studied a minimum of two semesters entirely in English, this can be accepted as equivalent (please provide proof with your application). You do not need to provide further English certificates if you hold a GMAT.
