The programme is offered by one of the leading integrated universities of technology in Europe, RWTH Aachen University, with close to 150 years of expertise in producing cutting-edge research and Cambridge Digital Innovation at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge.

In the course of the programme, you will learn the latest developments in laser technologies, digital and additive manufacturing, big data technologies, sustainable energy technologies, and much more. These technological modules will be accompanied by a profound management education where you will learn how to leverage and commercialise these technologies successfully.

Graduates of the programme will have a truly interdisciplinary mindset that is necessary for solving the great technological, managerial, and societal challenges of our time. Hence, the programme is ideally suited for professionals with a STEM background who wish to deepen their knowledge of state-of-the-art technologies and also aim for management positions in their next career steps.

An entirely distinctive element is the possibility to tailor the programme around the needs and time frame of the participants. With the help of the latest digital and blended learning technologies, you can choose to study mainly from your home location or from Aachen. You can also study at your own preferred pace.

There are many good reasons for choosing the MME TIME, including the following:

Excellent reputation: RWTH Aachen University enjoys an excellent reputation across the world for cutting-edge research in engineering and technology and is synonymous with German engineering.

Leading innovation ecosystems: The programme takes you to one of the most exciting innovation ecosystems in the world. Apart from Aachen, you will complete a Cambridge Ecosystem Practicum delivered by Cambridge University.

Interdisciplinary thinking: The courses in the programme will help you acquire advanced knowledge in both management and engineering. The programme will equip you with an interdisciplinary profile and mindset that are sought in corporations and start-ups alike.

Fully customisable: The entire programme is structured around your individual needs. You can decide if you want to study at your home location or on-campus in Aachen and Cambridge. You may also switch to studying part-time once during your studies. This will allow you to build an optimal learning experience.

Mixed pedagogy: The programme uses a great variety of learning styles and teaching methods. Lectures, case studies, applied projects, group work, topical debates, and lab sessions provide a varied and lively learning experience.

Leadership potential: Acquire the skills and tools to manage organisational as well as technological change and learn how to lead the digital transformation in your industry through innovation, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

Course organisation

The MME TIME offers you a profound management education accompanied by courses focusing on the latest developments in state-of-the-art technologies. The programme consists of four different blocks, which you may customise to design your individual profile. These include the following:

TIME Essentials: The TIME Essentials comprise six required courses that enable you to understand the managerial aspects of conceiving, developing and commercialising technological innovations. This includes a team project that allows you to put your learning into practice. The six modules are as follows: Digital Transformation & Information Systems Management, Entrepreneurial Management, Marketing Management, Production Management, Strategic Management, and Technology & Innovation Management.

Management Electives: You can select four or five out of seven management electives. Two of the selected electives must be assigned to all three specialisations: “Technology Manager,” “Technology Marketer” and “Technology Entrepreneur.” The remaining management elective, the Cambridge Ecosystem Practicum, will bring you to the University of Cambridge to explore a world-leading ecosystem of technology first-hand.

Technology Electives: To dive deeply into selected fields of technology, you can choose three to four courses from a rich portfolio of more than 20 distinct electives dealing with technology. These can be categorised into eight fields of technology: laser technologies, production technologies, robotic technologies, information technologies, human technologies, sustainable water technologies, sustainable energy technologies and material technologies.

Master's Thesis: Through writing a Master's thesis at the end of the programme, you will demonstrate your ability to solve a managerial or technological challenge using methods of scientific inquiry.

Possibility of finding part-time employment

International students may work in the private sector during the semester or in the semester break for up to three months without having obtained a work permit. Thus, students may work full-time for 120 days or part-time for 240 days. This regulation is also stated on the residence permit. During the semester, students are allowed to have jobs with working hours of up to 20 hours a week.
Student assistants have more flexibility with regard to working hours.

Accommodation

Availability of university accommodation in Aachen is limited. Therefore, participation in individual allocation procedures is usually required. Because of the demand for university accommodation, it can be necessary to switch to the private accommodation market. Especially family and couples apartments are very high in demand, so that accommodation from the private market is seemingly mandatory. The majority of RWTH Aachen University's students are committed to the private accommodation market. There are a number of options for finding private accommodation in and around Aachen. Accommodation on the private market is priced between 290 EUR and 550 EUR per month, of course depending on the size and the number of rooms. For short-term accommodation, there are many hotels, a few youth hostels, and a boardinghouse located in and around Aachen (reservation is recommended).
The International Academy and the RWTH Business School provide some rooms for international students in a flat-sharing community. Please have a look at http://www.housing-aachen.de/#concept.

University Location

One of the highlights of our Business School is its location on the RWTH Aachen campus. Research and teaching in Aachen are first and foremost application oriented and targeted at finding practical solutions to real-world challenges. Visible evidence of this is the RWTH Aachen campus, which is being developed in close cooperation with industry and will form one of the largest research parks in Europe.

The RWTH Aachen campus creates a unique symbiosis between the world of research and the world of business. On the campus, interdisciplinary teams of researchers work closely with industry consortia in state-of-the-art buildings that have been explicitly designed and constructed for that purpose. The companies involved share resources with university institutes, exchange knowledge directly on site, and collaborate on innovations for the future. More than 280 companies are currently represented on the RWTH Aachen campus.

Research activities on the campus are structured into long-term clusters, with each cluster located in a different building. A total of 16 clusters are under development, the six initial clusters include the Bio-Medical Engineering cluster, the Sustainable Energy cluster, the Photonics cluster, the Production Engineering cluster, the Heavy-Duty Drives cluster and the Smart Logistics cluster.

The campus project at RWTH Aachen University expands the traditional sphere of pure academic research and provides an ideal environment for innovation. The university will therefore be able to face future global challenges on a much broader scale.

All central facilities and most classrooms of the RWTH Business School are located on the RWTH Aachen campus, allowing students to experience the exciting intersection of management and technology first-hand and on a daily basis.
