Joint degree / double degree programme

The Bachelor's programme Audio Design at SRH Berlin enables students to create immersive sound worlds, 3D sound scenarios and compositions for time-based and interactive media such as films, radio plays and games as well as sound logos for innovative brands (sound branding). Students conceptualise and programme software- and hardware-based musical instruments and create audiovisual installations. The audio designer's instrument is his or her computer.

In the course of their studies, students get to know the basics of sound design, sound engineering and music. In the first four semesters, they gain aesthetic, compositional, sound design, sound engineering and music technology skills. From the sixth semester onwards, students develop these skills further and specialise by choosing projects from the areas of music technology and art, and music production as well as sound design and composition. Artistic individuality, individual support and practical implementation of what has been learned are key elements of the BA Audio Design programme.

If an international student cannot enter the country because of possible entry/visa difficulties due to Covid-19 and thus isn’t able to start his/her studies in Germany, he/she has the opportunity to participate in the modules from home via our online, hybrid-learning format.

Possibility of finding part-time employment

Working as a non-EU citizen:
In possession of a valid German residence permit for study purposes, you are allowed to work for up to 120 full days (full day = eight hours per day) or 240 half days (half day = four hours) during the calendar year. However, freelance work is not permitted. Internships that are mandatory for the successful completion of your studies at SRH Berlin do not count towards the above-named 120 full days.

Employment that is considered as “student part-time work” ("studentische Nebentätigkeit", e.g., employment as a student worker in a university or in a university-related organisation, or "Werkstudent" activities in companies that are related to your studies) can be done without any time restrictions.


We do not own any student dormitories or hostels. However, we provide assistance in selecting accommodation prior to and after your arrival in Berlin.

University location

With its population of 3.7 million residents, Berlin is the German capital, the largest city in Germany and the second most populous city in Europe. As living costs and rental prices are still relatively low, Dresden is a favourable city for students from around the world. If you add the vast array of cultural events, the diverse nightlife and the city’s beautiful location in the Elbe valley, one might not be surprised that Dresden is a great place to live and study in.

Hamburg is a city that is green, lively and economically strong. Located close to rivers and the ocean, Hamburg has more bridges than Venice and is part of the second largest metropolitan region in Germany.
