Target group

This course is a special offer for medical students seeking to study medicine in Germany, but it is also intended for prospective physicians planning to work in German medical facilities.


The specialised course "Technical German for Medical Professions" can only be chosen in combination with and in addition to the language course "Language and Society in Modern Germany". The specialised course in the afternoon takes up 8 hours per week and the language course in the morning takes up 20 hours per week. Our weekly programme will be complemented by additional offers like seminars on German culture, an international choir, a theatre workshop, film nights, sports, and a literature café. These additional offers amount to at least 12 hours per week.

This course will train you in "Technical German for Medicine", including specific vocabulary for the field of medicine; means of verbal expression for conversations with patients, colleagues, and supervisors; and the layout, organisation, and structure of doctors' letters.

Date of arrival is one day prior to the course date between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The optional parts of the cultural programme (museum visits, excursions) can result in additional costs.

For this course DAAD university summer course scholarships (usually starting at language level B1) are available. If you wish to apply for this course, you can find all necessary information about the scholarship programme and its application requirements here. Is accommodation organised?
Accommodation is arranged by the organiser.
Type of accommodation

We organise accommodation in single rooms. Students may choose between a room in a student dormitory or in a private shared flat. The dormitories feature two-, four-, five- and six-student apartment units, each with a kitchen and single-occupancy bedrooms. All dormitories are equipped with a common room as well as a TV room. Dishes and linen are available. In shared flats, kitchens and bathrooms are shared. The cost of accommodation is about 340 EUR per month plus a deposit fee of 100 EUR.


Both the dormitories and the private shared flats include cooking facilities. Several grocery stores and restaurants can be found in the city centre.

Is a social and leisure programme offered?
Description of social and leisure programme

The course fee includes various leisure time activities: literature café, academic seminars, international choir, theatre workshops, movie nights, sports programme, and the almost legendary summer university parties.

Cultural immersion opportunities include the following: museum visits, local trips, and guided city tours. These excursions cost between 1 and 8 EUR. We also offer trips, e.g., to Bamberg, Nuremberg, or Regensburg, that cost between 29 and 35 EUR.
