StREaM is an interdisciplinary, international Bachelor’s programme that combines engineering and economics, with a special focus on sustainability as an overlapping theme. On the one hand, students acquire basic knowledge in engineering and in economics. On the other hand, they gain knowledge and understanding of the principles of sustainable development as well as its importance for the economy and industry, the environment and the society in Germany as well as worldwide.

The sixth semester includes a mobility window. Students can choose between an internship in Germany or abroad or studying abroad.

Students who have to apply for a visa need proof of sufficient financial resources (853 EUR per month).
International students (from their second year of studies) can apply for scholarships such as the Otto von Guericke Scholarship (500 EUR per month for one year), the Deutschlandstipendium (Germany Scholarship) (300 EUR per month for one year) or the DAAD prize (a one-off payment of 1,000 EUR).
Studies and internships abroad can be supported via ERASMUS+ or PROMOS where appropriate.

Accommodation is available from the "Studentenwerk Magdeburg" or on the private market. Students must organise their own accommodation. The university's International Office provides helpful information on how to find accommodation.

A young university
Founded in 1991, the university has long gained a reputation for its well-rounded academic education programme and motivated student body. Interested students can choose from around 50 study programmes taught at three departments in Magdeburg and two departments in Stendal. Magdeburg Cathedral, which is dedicated to St. Maurice and St. Catherine, and the Art Museum in the Monastery of Our Lady are just two examples of some of the city’s most famous sights and attractions. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you pay these religious buildings a visit during your time in Magdeburg.
Magdeburg is not only home to a number of historical sights and landmarks, but also to a multitude of modern attractions such as the Magdeburg Waterway Junction, which boasts the world’s longest canal bridge, and the “Green Citadel of Magdeburg”, a building designed by the famous artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
You should also be sure to pay a visit to the old market square (Alter Markt), where you can view the “Magdeburg Horseman” statue, which is believed to depict Emperor Otto the First, and the Old Town Hall.
