Vinifera's educational programme is designed for a specific audience. The distinct international/European dimension attracts a wide range of highly qualified students. These students are typically seeking the experience of studying in another EU country and developing language skills and are looking for a higher degree of specialisation. Both of these objectives will be fulfilled by this Master's programme, due in particular to the international structure and excellence of its teaching.
Compulsory Modules:
The Vinifera EuroMaster is organised by a consortium of universities and graduate schools under the name of "EMaVE Consortium". All participating institutes are renowned for their research activities and their links with professionals in the viticulture and wine sector in major countries producing quality wine in Europe: France, Germany (Hochschule Geisenheim University), Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
The first year takes place in France and is entirely organised by and held at Montpellier SupAgro (Sept. – May) and Bordeaux Sciences Agro (June).
For the second year, each student chooses a host country, according to the modules offered by the EMaVE partners and the student's own professional project. The modules of the second academic year (M2) are very flexible in terms of dates, topics, and organisation. You will be able to design your track with the support of the Vinifera team according to your needs and expectations.
Part of the second year is devoted to the Master's thesis preparation that will take place either in a lab or in a company. This period may be carried out in yet another country (even outside of Europe), depending on the relevance of the Master's project. You can also return to France to complete your thesis.
The Vinifera EuroMaster diploma is a prestigious Master’s degree offered by the EMaVE Consortium. This unique European MSc diploma is delivered through a collaboration of six renowned universities across Europe, providing students with a comprehensive education in vine and wine sciences.
We offer an international version of each participating country’s nationally accredited Master’s degree in viticulture and enology. This joint diploma is recognised and accredited according to the national regulations of each partner country, ensuring a high standard of education across all institutions involved.
An internship is to be completed during the summer break between the second and third semester. Programme advisers will assist students in finding an appropriate internship.
The semester contribution is included in the tuition fee.

The career services of the partner universities support the students in finding job opportunities. Teaching staff help students find jobs in wineries.
Accommodation is available on the private market – the International Office at Hochschule Geisenheim University will assist students in finding accommodation (rent approx. 330–450 EUR per month). Private accommodation can be found at http://www.wunderflats.com or http://www.studenten-wg.de.

In its teaching as well as its research, Hochschule Geisenheim University combines the strengths of a traditional research university and a university of applied sciences or "Fachhochschule".
We offer our students eight practice-oriented Bachelor's degree programmes, each leading to a professional qualification, and nine research-based Master's degree programmes. Our research is equally application-based and theory-based. The main focus is on the field of special crops in viticulture and horticulture and their diverse production and processing areas. We combine this with the fields of fresh produce logistics, food safety, business administration and marketing. Planning and design are two further key areas encompassing landscape architecture, landscape construction, and environmental conservation.
It is this diversity and international approach that define the Geisenheim profile.
Geisenheim, with its population of around 11,000, is located on the Rhine between Wiesbaden and Rüdesheim, and is renowned for its wines, schools, and cathedral. It is popularly known as the "City of Lime Trees". The city itself stretches from the Rhine along the southern slopes of the Rheingau hills to the main ridge of the Taunus hills. Vineyards are planted halfway up the slopes surrounding Geisenheim and Johannisberg, with forests above them.
Living and studying:
Geisenheim offers a quality range of recreational and leisure activities. A number of sports halls, an indoor as well as an outdoor swimming pool, a sports field and opportunities for water sports are available privately or as part of the university's athletics programme. Innumerable inns, restaurants, wine bars as well as vintners' taverns offer regional delicacies and dining highlights. And if you want a bit more excitement, then the state capital of Wiesbaden offers true urban flair, only 20 minutes away by public transport with a student semester ticket.
