During the study programme MSc in Civil Engineering – Bauingenieurwesen, you will deepen the skills you have learned so far in the field of civil engineering from a perspective of natural and engineering science. The ability to recognise and solve technical problems and tasks in their complexity determines your studies as much as the development of new types of solutions.

In your studies, you will develop the ability for interdisciplinary and international cooperation beyond professional, administrative and political boundaries as well as the ability to weigh different solutions, explain them objectively and understandably, to make decisions and justify them.

Thus, this degree opens up diverse and excellent opportunities in the international professional world or can be the basis for a doctorate and a research career.

Course organisation

The Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Bauingenieurwesen is a two-year / four-semester programme. To obtain the degree, you need to earn a total of 120 credit points.

The programme is bilingual, while the basic courses for the first two semesters are taught predominantly in English.

The MSc Civil Engineering – Bauingenieurwesen is a study programme that allows students to design their study plan according to their wishes. To arrange your studies flexibly and individually you can take a variety of options.

Three research subjects are chosen, one of them as the research specialisation subject.

The elective area's modules (42 CP) can be freely chosen and pursued in an interdisciplinary manner. You can use them for subject-related in-depth study or expansion of the range of topics.

In the fourth semester, you chose the topic of your Master's thesis according to your own interests.

The design of your individual study plan is done in consultation with and advised by your assigned mentor.

Language requirements

For admission to the MSc Civil Engineering – Bauingenieurwesen, you need a language certificate for English at C1 level.

Good German language skills are expected for successful studies. The C1 level should be reached by the beginning of the third semester at the latest.
