Description/content

Our international summer schools have a long tradition: Each year, we offer three to six-week intensive courses in German language and culture during the semester breaks. In these courses, you will learn German in small groups at four different language levels. During our lessons, you will improve your grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary at the A1 to B2 language levels. You will also learn a lot about German culture and regional studies.

Our courses are complemented by an extensive social and excursion programme that allows participants to get to know TU Braunschweig and the region around Braunschweig.

We will visit regional companies and museums and explore various TU Braunschweig facilities. During excursions to Berlin and several German cities, you will get to know the history and culture of Germany better. Joint leisure activities and sufficient free time to explore on your own round off our programme.

Spring school in March 2025 (three weeks):

This programme is particularly suitable for international students who will be studying at TU Braunschweig starting in the 2025 summer semester. During the spring school, you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the university campus and the city of Braunschweig. In addition, we will support you with any organisational queries regarding your daily study routine, ensuring you can start the semester in a stress-free manner.

Summer school in July/August 2025 (four or six weeks):

This programme is aimed at all students and prospective students who are interested in German language and culture. During our summer school, you will have the opportunity to gain a first impression of our university, the city of Braunschweig, and the everyday life of a student in Germany. This will allow you to decide whether you want to join our summer school for four or six weeks.

Summer school in September 2025 (four weeks):

This programme is particularly suitable for international students who will be studying at TU Braunschweig starting in the 2025/2026 winter semester. During the summer school, you will have the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the university campus and the city of Braunschweig. In addition, we will support you with any organisational queries regarding your daily study routine, ensuring you can start the semester in a stress-free manner.

University location

Braunschweig is a lively student city situated in northern Germany. With a population of 250,000, it is big enough to feel cosmopolitan and yet small enough not to be overwhelming. As an important cultural and political centre dating back to the Middle Ages, Braunschweig retains the imprint of each period, from the medieval castle and the Gothic cathedral to modern shopping streets and leisure facilities.

Braunschweig has an international reputation as a city of research. The high density of national and international companies and scientific research institutes located in and around the city make Braunschweig the most active research and development region in all of Europe.
