Description/content

The preparatory German courses of TU Braunschweig give you the opportunity to learn German language skills relevant to your studies within a short period of time.

Together with other international students, you will practice your German language skills and prepare for the "Deutsch als Fremdsprache" (TestDaF) test. If you have successfully passed the TestDaF exam at the end of the course, you can study at TU Braunschweig or another German university.

We teach language competence in all four skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing), paying particular attention to the university context. You will practise study-relevant skills (e.g. participation in discussions, preparation of papers, presentations, and teamwork) and learn more about cultural and regional aspects of Germany.

By the way: The A1 and A2 level courses are offered in hybrid format. You can also attend them if you are unable to be in Germany at the start of the course.

275 Years of Experience in Teaching and Research

TU Braunschweig looks back on a history of almost 300 years and thus has the longest tradition among technical universities in Germany. It is one of the nine leading technical universities in Germany and has two clusters of excellence and around 200 international partnerships.

The main campus of TU Braunschweig is only a few minutes' walk from the historic centre of the city of Braunschweig with its many picturesque half-timbered buildings and medieval townscape.

The campus offers ideal conditions for innovative summer school courses in a traditional location.

Around 16,000 students, including around 3,200 international students, are enrolled at TU Braunschweig. Six departments and 120 institutes offer 86 degree programmes and excellent facilities for interdisciplinary research work in the fields of engineering, natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities.

University location

Braunschweig is a lively student city situated in northern Germany. With a population of 250,000, it is big enough to feel cosmopolitan and yet small enough not to be overwhelming. As an important cultural and political centre dating back to the Middle Ages, Braunschweig retains the imprint of each period, from the medieval castle and the Gothic cathedral to modern shopping streets and leisure facilities.

Braunschweig has an international reputation as a city of research. The high density of national and international companies and scientific research institutes located in and around the city make Braunschweig the most active research and development region in all of Europe.
