You will learn the principles of software design and implementation:

  • Systems analysis and design
  • Software development: programming languages and technologies
  • Software engineering: software architecture, software testing, human computer, requirements engineering and usability interaction

Learn all about technologies such as:

  • Databases
  • Computer networks
  • Foundations of IT hardware
  • Operating systems
  • Multimedia technology
  • IT security

Other fascinating areas of your studies include:

  • Project management and agile development
  • Data science:
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Machine Learning

From your sixth semester onwards, you will specialise in Data Science or Digital Transformation.

Integrated internships

Your studies offer you a variety of opportunities for practical experience. For example, in many of your courses you will apply the theory you have learned directly by engaging in a realistic project so as to be able to pursue it in greater depth. The fifth semester is a practical semester: here you go out to a company and apply everything you have learned so far in a real-life setting.

You can also write your Bachelor's thesis at a company. As a special bonus, our cooperation with industry partners means you can apply as a working student from the second semester onwards.

Accommodation

A variety of accommodation options is available on-campus and in the nearby area. Most exchange students are offered rooms in the halls of residence on campus, which cost around 320 EUR per month. Degree-seeking students can choose whether to live in the halls or in private accommodations off campus.

The International Office looks after international exchange students who study at Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences. Students are given information about the university, admission requirements and the application process as well as support in finding accommodation and dealing with the authorities (e.g. when registering their stay in the town hall or applying for a residence permit).

Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences is one of the best-rated universities in the degree programmes Business Administration, Economics and Law, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as Mechatronics. Aschaffenburg University of Applied Sciences is also in the top group in the degree programmes Industrial Engineering and Renewable Energies and Energy Management. This is confirmed by the results of the 2020/2021 and 2019/2020 university rankings of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE), in which 120,000 students in Germany and Austria cast their vote.

Joining university sports ("Hochschulsport") is a great way to make friends and meet some local students while studying with us. University location

Not only the university but also its home town of Aschaffenburg has a lot to offer. It is located on the Bavarian Untermain and is characterised by a mixture of culture, nature and liveliness. Markets and festivals, museums and the municipal theatre enrich cultural life in Aschaffenburg. Cinemas, libraries and exhibitions also contribute to this. The Johannisburg Palace and the Pompeiianum are particularly worth seeing. They also attract international tourists to Aschaffenburg.

Green spaces, forests and parks invite you to relax and do sports. The Schoental Park, Schoenbusch Park and the Main Promenade can be reached quickly. For hiking, winter sports, mountain biking and climbing, athletes are drawn to the nearby Nature Park Spessart or the Odenwald. Music fans get their money's worth in clubs and at festivals. Party-goers visit cafes and bars. If you want even more variety, explore Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, Mainz, Darmstadt and Wuerzburg. Due to the excellent transport connections, this is easily possible.
