The Master's programme in "Microbiology and Infection Biology" will give you an excellent insight into the multifaceted world of microbes, providing fundamental knowledge in microbiology and infection biology, cutting-edge research in renowned laboratories and a high number of hands-on courses.
The Master of Science Microbiology and Infection Biology is a two-year programme with a total 120 ECTS credits. All modules except for the Elective Modules and the courses of the Interdisciplinary Module are graded and will contribute to the overall grade of the Master's degree.
The first year will equip you with a broad foundation in microbiology and you will learn state-of-the-art molecular biology and biochemistry methods and bioinformatics. In addition, you can sharpen your profile by freely choosing modules from different research areas.
In the second year, experimental work in our laboratories is planned as well as training in scientific communication.
Elective Modules and Research Modules can be completed at international partner universities.

Bachelor's degree in biology or comparable subject with a minimum grade of 2.5
If the degree programme completed is not biology, evidence of at least 30 ECTS credits in relevant subject areas (e.g. molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry) and at least 12 ECTS credits of practical laboratory experience must be provided.
