Taught in English, the degree programme is research-oriented and prepares students for a career as a biologist, particularly in the fields of neuroscience and behavioural biology.

We offer a wide range of courses covering

  • cellular and molecular neuroscience
  • systems and behavioural neurobiology
  • the role of biodiversity for ecosystem functions and services
  • study content related to disciplines such as medicine, biochemistry, and psychology
  • advanced statistics and modelling

The "Deutschland-Semesterticket" costs 176.40 EUR (this is equivalent to 29.40 EUR per month). The contribution to the semester ticket is paid at the enrolment or re-enrolment at the university. The semester ticket provides affordable mobility in public transportation throughout Germany.

Academic admission requirements

We expect from you:

  • enthusiasm for science and the neuroscience in general
  • a BSc degree in biology or related sciences with a study profile in neuroscience or related topics
  • B2 English language skills (details below)

Students are selected on the basis of a competitive procedure.

Admission to the programme is based on

i) your BSc grades
ii) the overlap of your elective BSc modules with the MSc NBB
iii) your letter of motivation for applying, including information about relevant additional qualifications
iv) your participation in student administration and governance (if applicable)

Language requirements

Knowledge of English at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (IELTS > 5.5 or TOEFL > 72 or a degree from an English speaking institution)
