The course addresses international students of music who are preparing for professional training in the field of arts and music.
Students from other faculties are also welcome to participate if they have reached an advanced level of singing or playing an instrument.
The specialised course "Music and Musical Life in Germany" can only be chosen in combination with and in addition to the language course "Language and Society in Modern Germany". The specialised course in the afternoon takes up eight hours per week and the language course in the morning 20 hours per week. Our weekly programme will be rounded off by practical and informational seminars on German culture and society with 12 hours of lessons per week.
Bayreuth is famous for its yearly Richard Wagner festival, which is an important part of musical life in Germany. It comes as no surprise that the Summer University in Bayreuth offers a special course devoted to musical life in Germany, designed for anyone interested in music.
This course will offer you the opportunity to gain knowledge about the institutions of musical life, musical education and management in Germany. In cooperation with the "Festival of Young Artists" in Bayreuth, you will participate in talks, workshops and performances on the life and work of Richard Wagner.
The closing concert of the Summer University also is regularly organised by the participants of this course. You will have the chance to practise compositions (vocal and instrumental) and perform these on stage in front of all your new-found friends.
