This course is for undergraduate students, graduate students, and PhD candidates interested in an intensive language course. The language classes are offered from level A2 to C1/C2 (elementary to advanced).
The course is designed for students of German Studies / German Literature and all interested students who want to take language classes and are also interested in topics concerning culture, literature, theatre, history, and society.
"Get out of the classroom, dip into the city" – this motto of the course can be taken literally, as the combination of language class, academic lessons, and cultural activities allows students to have first-hand experience of the German language and culture and witness how it is practised in daily and social life.
The syllabus is composed of traditional language instruction. You can improve your foreign language skills through academic lessons with a weekly focus on aspects of German culture. There is also a cultural programme.
Principles of action-oriented and individual learning are focused on in the course, and therefore, the interests and motivation of the participants are important conditions. The willingness to question factual knowledge as well as producing creativity and individual perspectives do not only form the work and results of this course in a special way, but they also support the social skills and self-confidence for dealing with the foreign language.
Cultural activities about twice a week:
- museum visits
- excursion to Potsdam and Sanssouci, which are UNESCO world heritage sites
- visit of the German Parliament
- open-air cinema & theatre
