Students of German Studies/German as a Foreign Language can attend this specialised course as well as German teachers who are interested in improving their teaching methods in combination with cultural studies.
The specialised course "Training for Teachers of German as a Foreign Language" can only be chosen in combination with and in addition to the language course "Language and Society in Modern Germany". The specialised course in the afternoon takes up eight hours per week and the language course in the morning takes up to 20 hours per week. Our weekly programme will be rounded off by additional offers like seminars on German culture, an international choir, a theatre workshop, movie nights, sports, and a literature café. These additional offers amount to at least 12 hours per week.
The tuition of language requires a high level of methodical, didactical, pedagogic as well as personal skills.
The aim of the course is to prepare teachers for this occupational field. Here, language skills should not be taught in isolation. In this course, students learn how to locate intermediation of German in a cultural context. The course offers theoretic insights into methods and didactics of German as a foreign language. Students will gain linguistic, teaching and intercultural competencies and furthermore skills for the adoption of various methods of teaching.
