The summer school provides an introduction to German engineering and natural sciences as well as German language and culture. As a result, teaching is divided into two separate areas. On the one hand, our German language classes equip students with the necessary language skills to help them cope with everyday situations at RWTH Aachen University and its surroundings. Depending on each student's German language level, he or she will be put into different courses. On the other hand, the fundamentals of engineering and natural sciences will be explored.
The natural sciences classes cover three key areas, including the fundamentals of biology, chemistry and physics.
The engineering classes cover the areas sustainable mobility concepts, and Industry 4.0 as well as bioprocess technology. Sustainable mobility concepts are crucial for the long term goal of an emission-free world. Students will be introduced to the following subjects: biofuels, diesel engines, and lightweight design as well as battery technology.
Industry 4.0 is an initiative by the German government that promotes the integration of industrial production with information and communication technologies. Students will learn about topics such as factory planning, the Internet of Production, automation, human-machine interaction and robotics.
In the bioprocess technology lectures, students will learn about biochemical engineering, biocatalysts and microorganisms, including hands on experiments in a laboratory. They will also get insights into applied microbiology.
