The courses are designed for undergraduate students from all academic disciplines with a strong general interest in cultures, Europe and Germany in particular. A very good command of English and the willingness to actively participate during course activities are required.
Each T-IES programme focuses on Europe and comes with a different set of academic courses (organised in separate “Study Tracks”) that range from European Union politics, discussions of human rights, migration, artificial intelligence, and memory culture to learning about sustainability, environmental ethics, and living together in multicultural societies. Courses are very dynamic. They encourage student participation, and they offer plenty of outside-the-classroom activities such as study trips and fieldwork in Tübingen and beyond.
Each T-IES short-term programme offers all participants German language classes (for beginners and students who already possess some German skills) and an intercultural workshop that prepares participants for the very diverse setting in which all classes take place. In addition to that, a buddy programme gets international participants in touch with local UT students who offer support throughout each programme (and before). A rich and varied social programme provides many opportunities to experience arts, culture, and local student life in one of Germany’s most historical university towns.
