ISU Kassel invites motivated and qualified students or graduates to join the programme. Students with a particular interest in German culture and language are very welcome to participate in the programme.

Description/content

For students who are interested in German culture and intercultural communication, ISU offers an English-taught seminar on:

"German History and Politics"

This seminar combines theoretical classwork with field trips that complement the seminar contents. The central topics of the course are:

  • The Nazi dictatorship and the Third Reich
  • The "economic miracle", the building of the Berlin Wall and the Cold War
  • Germany's political system
  • German reunification in 1989

This course can be combined with a second course within the cultural module.

In addition to the academic seminars in the respective disciplines, all students attend intensive German language courses. These courses are offered at three different levels (from beginning to advanced). Participants will have plenty of opportunities to practise their language skills while staying with a host family.
