This special language course is aimed at law students who are planning on studying in Germany and law practitioners who would like to get to know the German legal system.

Description/content

This is what you can expect from the course:

  • expert presentations regarding selected legal topics (mainly civil law)
  • intensive special language training to help you prepare for and follow up on the presentations (working with different kinds of law texts and writing short papers)
  • an extensive additional programme that will help you improve your oral language skills (examples include attending a criminal trial at the magistrate's court; getting to know the Faculty of Law at the University of Münster; and visits to a law firm, the Münster police, and a correctional facility)

Funding: application for DAAD-HSK scholarship

For this course DAAD university summer course scholarships (usually starting at language level B1) are available. If you wish to apply for this course, you can find all necessary information about the scholarship programme and its application requirements here. To submit your application, please note the reference number HSK-0226. This number can only be used for presence courses. Applying for attending online courses is not possible.

Accommodation is arranged by the organiser.
Type of accommodation

Private accommodation
For a one-time fee of 50 EUR, a room with a host family or in shared flats can be arranged. The rent is between 380 and 420 EUR per month without meals, but participants have the possibility to use the kitchen. There may be a deposit for the room – if so, you will be notified of this in advance.

Student dormitory
A limited number of rooms in a student dormitory can be arranged. The rent is between 320 and 500 EUR.
Bedsheets and cutlery can be borrowed for 10 EUR. On return, you will be refunded 5 EUR.

Meals

You can eat low-cost meals in the canteens of the university. A set meal costs about 6 EUR.

Leisure-time activities outside of class: guided tour of the city, museums, cinema, international buffet, welcome party, visiting a German pub, cinema, sport activities, farewell party

Our optional excursion programme offers three one-day excursions. The cost of this programme is 210 EUR, which covers transport, guided tours, and museum visits.
