The course targets international students with a good knowledge of German who are already studying mechatronics or who are interested in this subject.
The field of mechatronics includes all areas of technology in which components of electronics, mechanics, and informatics interact. Apart from improving language skills by using relevant technical terminology, the teaching project encompasses the analysis of graphics/diagrams on engineering science topics. The course also includes reading practice through the use of popular scientific texts and technical resources. Teaching is connected to real-life situations and includes extracurricular learning venues in addition to the lessons in class.
Linguistically, the focus is on communication and a confident use of the German language, adapted to specific situations. Grammatical knowledge and technical language aspects are practised and developed as appropriate to the upper level.
The course amounts to 25 hours per week (17 hours of general language and eight hours of technical language).
