The course targets students with a good knowledge of German who are already studying law or who are interested in studying law.
The aim of the project is to expand language proficiency in the area of law. Using examples of particular cases, fundamental rights will be examined and compared from an intercultural perspective. Furthermore, the relevant norms of the BGB (German civil code) will be discussed. Independent work on practical, true-to-life cases will complete the programme. Teaching will be connected to real-life situations and will include extracurricular learning venues in addition to the lessons taught in the classroom.
Linguistically, the focus will be placed on communication and developing a confident command of the German language, tailored to specific situations. Grammar and technical language aspects will be practised and refined at an advanced level.
The course consists of 25 lessons per week (17 lessons of general language, which include two study groups, and eight lessons of technical language).
